Job Summary: Provide academic instruction and assistance to students on an individual or small-group basis. Monitors security of physical property and secures premises at the end of the evening. Provides security and assistance to students and staff. Supports the campus by performing custodial duties in a routinely assigned area.
Duties/Responsibilities:

* Ensures safety and security of classroom facilities and building.
* Patrols the building throughout the evening to ensure safety and security and secures the building at the end of the night.
* Provides assistance to staff, instructors, and students as needed (copies, directions, general information, etc.).
* Informs the Director of any problems related to classrooms or building.
* Uses the time clock to record time worked.
* Uses vacuum cleaners to vacuum all carpeted areas in routinely assigned areas.
* Uses chemicals and equipment, as outlined in the custodial manual, to clean and disinfect restroom and/or shower fixtures and facilities in routinely assigned areas
* Uses mop, mop bucket with wringer, chemicals, and floor machines (including high-speed burnishers, low-speed scrubbers, auto scrubbers, and wet vacuums) as outlined in the custodial manual, to clean and maintain all hard surfaces in routinely assigned areas.
* Reports all non-emergency repair needs, replacement needs, damage, non-operating equipment, and/or unsafe conditions to the Facilities Department using an online work order.
* Moves equipment and/or furniture as approved by the site leader.
* Uses brooms, shovels, ice choppers, ice spreaders, and other snow/ice removal equipment to keep immediate building entrances, steps, ramps, and approaches free of ice and snow. Also keeps approaches, steps, and entrances free of cigarette butts, trash, litter, leaves, and twigs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
* Ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail is necessary to provide accurate information and to foster effective relationships with students.
* Ability to understand and explain instructions to assist with assignments correctly and thoroughly.
* Willingness to make a one or two semester commitment.
* Reliability, patience, and maturity
* Ability to visually inspect the building and premises.
* Ability to use a cellular phone or office phone in the event of an emergency.
* Attention to detail in order to notice irregularities.
* Ability to function under pressure in order to respond to and direct emergency situations.
* Ability to read and write at a level normally obtained in high school in order to record data.
* Interpersonal communication skills are necessary in order to relate to the campus community, visitors, and emergency personnel.
Education and Experience: A high school diploma plus some college level coursework with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Physical Requirements: The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to visually inspect campus classroom facilities and building.
