General Description

Under general supervision, but following existing policies and procedures as well as all applicable banking laws and regulations, including BSA and AML, is responsible for maintaining flood insurance requirements on the loan portfolio secured by property in a Special Flood Hazard Area. Reviews and approves new loans, increases, extensions, and renewals for closing, reviews incoming flood insurance documentation, force places insurance when applicable, handles flood zone changes presented to the bank, and performs annual reviews on expiring flood insurance policies. Maintains a strong knowledge of flood related compliance requirements and regulations of the National Flood Insurance Program and the Acts that affect those requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

+ Responsible for reviewing all new loans where a positive or partial flood zone has been determined on the property. Calculates the minimum required flood insurance amounts by reviewing the property appraisal and other applicable documents. Reviews the accuracy and completeness of flood related documents and insurance. Works closely with loan assistants and loan officers concerning loan requirements and any missing documentation before approving the loan for closing. This duty is performed daily, about 25% of the time.

+ Sets-up and maintains tracking records for each loan with flood requirements in the Jack Henry Silverlake system as well as the online insurance tracking system. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.

+ Reviews flood insurance policies for loans that are up for renewal. Completes a Flood Insurance Worksheet for each loan by calculating any changes in the required amounts and verifying the new insurance policy declarations received have met all requirements. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.

+ Monitors the notice cycle to borrowers when their insurance has been determined as insufficient. Force-places insurance at the end of that cycle or cancels that cycle if insurance has been received. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

+ Prepares all applicable flood documentation packages for imaging. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.

+ Responsible for the life of loan zone change process by reviewing notifications from the bank's various flood determination vendors. Must calculate new requirements for each loan and begin the borrower notice cycles for any applicable zone changes. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

+ Monitors weekly list of new flood determinations pulled and compares the list to the loans submitted to the flood desk. Responsible for following up with the loan assistants as to the status of those determinations that were not submitted to the flood desk. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

+ Assists with research requests and/or special projects as they arise as a result of Compliance monitoring, portfolio acquisition, new employee training, etc. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

+ Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
