Market Sector Directors (MSD) are part of HDR's matrix management structure that drive our business. The HDR Highway & Roads (H&R) market sector is the largest, representing nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. It includes clients owning and operating highways, toll roads, city, town, and local roads, and bridge structures. The primary professional services include: bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services.
This role requires understanding of H&R clients, their funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures. The responsibilities are divided into:
Market Sector Directors set the vision for HDR's strategy to expand and serve clients. They support growth initiatives, staff development, and coordinate strategies with leadership across regions and business groups. They also maintain communication with the Transportation Business Group (TBG) Market Strategy Director to implement growth and operational plans.
HDR's global presence includes contracts with state departments of transportation in the US, and expanding in Canada, UK, Middle East, and Australia. The Director will support business development, client management, and strategic initiatives to grow HDR's presence outside the US, engaging with local clients and bringing expertise across various transportation services.
Preferred: 20+ years in highway/bridge planning or engineering, PE license, leadership in industry associations.
Required: Bachelor's in Engineering, 12+ years of industry experience with leadership, strong communication and business skills, commitment to HDR's culture.
