Senior Cost Accountant

Description:

Kemin Nutrisurance, industry leader in quality pet food ingredients, is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join their team. In this role, you will prepare financial analysis and maintain standard cost activities for our operations group. Additionally, you will analyze and prepare reports. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, company, state and federal regulations, policies and procedures is critical to this position. The ideal candidate must be able to quickly and accurately analyze an account or situation, ensuring the safeguard of Kemins assets and returns to Kemins shareholders. This position reports to the KN Manufacturing Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in month end close procedures
  • Timely and accurate reconciliations of assigned accounts
  • Ability to manage time to ensure transactions are recorded timely and accurately
  • Ability to follow and document process and procedures
  • Ability to work across departments and business units to resolve issues with transactions
  • Assist with internal control process & procedures
  • Assist with cost accounting functions
  • Assist with pulling information for requested analysis
  • Provide in-depth analysis of business transactions, including customer accounts, AP & AR aging, OPEX, manufacturing costs, and sales scorecard.
  • Ability to provide accurate data consistently

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting with 2-4 years of experience, or Associates Degree, or equivalent, with 5-7 years of applicable experience.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and metrics to management including explanations and deviations between budget and prior year for both domestic and foreign operations.
  • Performs cost rolls on a quarterly basis for the domestic operations and analyze data for accuracy.
  • Prepare cost estimates for new products and revision requests.
  • Provide analysis on variance accounts and work with Operations to create corrective action plans.
  • Post cost accounting transactions and resolve issues.
