This person will be responsible for the inspection of specific operations on construction job sites for transportation projects. Residing in the greater Springfield area is not a requirement as inspectors generally report to the various project locations./ph3Roles and Responsibilities/h3ulliObserve and inspect various construction projects from beginning to completion. To include, but not limited to, thorough documentation of daily progress, computing and tracking materials and quantities, material sampling and testing, maintaining timely, accurate records of project progress and general oversight./liliRead and interpret plans, details, specifications, and other contract documents. Recognize and report any deviations from the contract documents./liliConduct laboratory and field testing and reports on soils, aggregates, asphalt, and other materials./liliMaintain clear and effective written and oral communication and be able to answer inquiries as required./liliAttend and conduct meetings to gain insight of the project prior to construction, progress updates and other project related meetings./liliMeasure and scale distances along with competent math skills to provide accurate documentation of work completed./li/ulh3Required Skills/h3ulliMust be able to travel and stay out of town a week at a time as required providing on-site observation, inspection, and testing./liliCapable of lifting and handling 50+ pounds/liliKnowledge of typical construction practices, MoDOT and/or KDOT specifications and ability to learn on the job through observation of others and asking questions./liliAbility to work independently and incorporate efficient time management practices./liliAbility to effectively communicate both written and orally and coordinate with the owner, landowners, and contractors./liliDisciplined individual who maintains accurate, timely and descriptive records of daily, weekly, and monthly progress./liliExperience working with DOTs and thoroughly understand their requirements and expectations for projects./li/ulh3Required Experience/h3ulli2+ years of construction related experience preferred but not required./liliMoDOT Technician Certification and/or KDOT Certified Inspector Training Program Certification is a plus or must be willing to obtain certification./li/ulpPlease note that Wilson Company is not currently sponsoring applicants for work visas.
