As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), you will provide vital, hands-on support to residents, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and overall well-being. You'll assist residents with daily activities such as grooming, hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and social engagement. Additionally, you will monitor and report changes in their conditions to the care team, helping foster a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance and guidance to residents with personal care needs, including grooming, hygiene, dressing, and nutrition.
  • Respond promptly to calls for assistance from residents using a proactive approach.
  • Measure and document vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration as required.
  • Help transport residents or assist them in walking, turning, or repositioning as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness in resident spaces, including changing bed linens and assisting with routines.
  • Help residents get to and from the dining area and provide assistance during meal times.
  • Encourage participation in community activities to promote social engagement.
  • Listen to residents' concerns and report any significant observations to the care team immediately.
  • Support the personal, emotional, and physical well-being of each resident, aiming to assist them towards independence wherever possible.
  • Understand and respect each resident's Advance Directives.
  • Communicate effectively with community staff and families about resident care, ensuring everyone is informed about their loved ones' well-being.
  • Collaborate well with team members and demonstrate initiative in helping to resolve conflicts when necessary.
  • Other tasks as assigned to support community operations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited PCA program is required.
  • One year of experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • CPR or BLS certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in common digital tools, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and electronic health record systems.

Working Conditions:

  • The position requires walking or standing for extended periods and moving throughout the community.
  • May involve stooping, kneeling, climbing, or lifting to perform job duties.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to interpret written information are essential.
  • May require lifting up to fifty (50) pounds independently, and up to 200 pounds with assistance.
  • Adherence to infection control protocols and safety measures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
  • Participation in teamwork activities to foster a positive work environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
