MECC/MES Library Assistant

Monett R-1 School District is accepting applications for a library assistant position at the Monett Early Childhood Center/Monett Elementary School for the 2026 - 2027 school year. This campus shared position assists the librarian in managing thelibrary resources, assists students and staff with all library needs, and performs various clerical duties. This position will independently teach library classes and follow a lesson plan created by the Librarian. This position is flexible, as responsibilities may vary across campuses, and additional duties may be assigned by building administration as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks.

• Other duties may be assigned as needed
• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies
• Creates and maintains student/staff library accounts in Alexandria
• Maintains circulation records of library books, reference material in Alexandria
• Tracks overdue and lost books and assists with collection of fees for these items
• Processes check-in and check-out of all library materials
• Reshelving books
• Repairs all damaged books
• Processes new books by stamping, covering, and adding appropriate color label for reading levels
• Supervises all students during library and STEAM classes at MECC
• Assists students/staff with locating appropriate library materials
• Assists with set-up and running of special events, such as open house and book fairs
• Maintains an organized, clean, and inviting library
• Cleans tables
• Assists librarian with book displays and maintaining bulletin boards
• Assists with year-end inventory
• Attends all staff meetings (if applicable)
• Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students
